Women's expedition from Bengal flagged off

Ten Bengali women are all set to scale a peak (6210m, [30o55’N, 79o13’E]) in Garhwal Himalayas. The peak is located at the north side of Chaturangi glacier and to the opposite of Suralaya glacier. The expedition is organised by West Bengal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Foundation. The team has decided to leave Kolkata on 24th august, 2017. Mahua Biswas, leader of the team says, “We are going to ascend the peak to pay a tribute to Radhanath Sikdar.”

Mahua Biswas (30) (Leader), Sujata Bhattacharya (42), Amrita Das (25), Supriya Dey (26), Laxmi Ghosh (28), Sathi Sasmal (29), Bandana Haldar (29), Swarupa Mondal (20), Unnati Pandey (27) and Moumita Das (22).

Route:
Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Nandanvan - Basuki Tal - Base camp - Camp 1 - Camp 2 - Summit.

First Ascent:
This peak was first climbed successfully by a team from Bengal (Sujal Mukherjee, Amulya sen, Himadri Bhattacharya, Pranesh Chakraborty, Karunamoy Das, Binith Dasgupta, Tashi Sherpa, Nima Thonduk, and Phu Dorjee ) in 1968 organised by GGEC (Gangotri Glacier Exploration Committee). They had proposed the name of the peak after the famous mathematician Radhanath Sikdar as Mt. Radhanath.
