Team from Bengal reached the East Summit (6025m) of Nanda Ghunti via new route to South-East Ridge

A team from West Bengal (Nilkantha) climbed the top of the South-East face (6025m) of the Nanda Ghunti (6309m) on 4th September, 2016 successfully. As reported, the team explored a new route to reach the south-east ridge to climb up to the East summit (6025m). The route takes the diversion just before the Ronti Shaddle and approach the direct south face to get the south-east ridge. However, martin Moran in 2001 reached the summit of Nanda Ghunti via South face but through different route.

Notable Ascends:
1944: First attempt by B. R. Goodfellow and J. Buzzard (UK)
1947: Frist Ascend by swiss team Andre Roch and Rene Dittert via East ridge
1960: First Indian ascend - Indian team from Himalayan Institute (leader: Sukumar Roy) approached the summit from the Rishi ganga to the north and climbed the easier north ridge to the summit
2001: Martin Moran led Indo-British team in May-June reached summit via both south face and the north ridge.
