Rare honour for veteran Indian climber

Harish Kapadia (72) of Mumbai, author of 17 books, Editor of Himalayan Journal for 35 years and still an active Mountaineer and Explorer has been made an Honorary Member of the Korea Alpen Book Club.

He is the first Indian so honoured; and one amongst only two Asians who have been made Honorary Members.

Tamotsu Nakamura of Japan is the other member.

"In it's long history only two other have been made Honorary members and they are Reinhold Messner and Bernadette McDonald," said Harish.

The ceremony was held on 6th november 2017 at Seoul, Korea.

After receiving the honour he said, "I have dedicated this honour to the HIMALAYAN JOURNAL and the HIMALAYAN CLUB, in its 90th Year."
