A Nepali woman sets a record by reaching the summit of Everest for the eighth time

Lhakpa Sherpa, a Nepali women climber sets a new record by scaling Mt.Everest (8848 m) for the eighth time on Saturday. Lhakpa Sherpa (44) reached the peak from the northern side of the mountain. The mother of three reached the summit along with Pem Chhiri Sherpa on Saturday morning at around 6.35 am. She wanted to prove a point that Nepali women have the courage and endurance to perform their despite of all their hardships.

She became the first Napalese women to climb Mt. Everest successfully​ in 2000.
