Vivek Shivade from Pune summitted CB-13

Vivek Shivade (27) from Pune reached the summit of Mt. CB-13 (6264 m), the highest peak of the Chandrabhaga Mountain range located in Lahaul Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh on 28th July 2017.
The team consisted of six members, Vivek Shivade, Pawan Hadole, Jayant Wakode, Sanket Dhotre, Lokesh Shinde and Varun Bhagwat.
Vivek Shivade was the leader of the team. Four members viz, Vivek Shivade, Pawan Hadole, Jayant Wakode and Varun Bhagwat started for the summit from Camp-2  on 18th July,2017  but had to call off their summit bid at a distance of just 400 meters from the summit, due to bad weather. They descended to Manali and started preparations for re-attempt. Vivek waited for weather clearances and then successfully completed it in his second attempt on 28th July, 2017 at around 9.00 Hrs. He was assisted by two high altitude porters, Balkrishna Thakur (Chandi) and Gopal Thakur.

Timeline of the Expedition
8th July: The team reached Manali.

10th July: Team left for Batal (4100 m).

12th July: Team reached Base Camp(4300 m).

13th July: Team performed acclimatization and load ferry to Camp-1(4900 m). The trail passed through morrain and then through Dhaka glacier.

14th July: Team took rest at Base Camp.

15th July: All members except Sanket proceeded to Camp-1. He stayed back due to headache.

16th July: All members except Lokesh ferried load to Camp-2 (5200 m) from Camp-1. Lokesh had to go back due to altitude sickness.

17th July: All members reached Camp-2 at 2pm and on the same day they ferried load to Col (5500 m).

18th July: The team left for the summit push at 3.30 am and reached Col at 7 am. From col Vivek opened the route. He used 4 rock pittons, 1 snow stack and 1 ice screw. Weather conditions started to deteriorate and they had to come back.

19th July: Team reached base camp.

22nd July: The team reached Manali safely.

25th July: Vivek along with guide,Balkrishna Thakur and Gopal Thakur moved to Batal for their second summit bid.

26th July: They reached Camp-1.

27th July: They directly reached Col skipping Camp-2 at 2pm. The route proved to be a challenge as the crevasses had opened due to melting of snow.

28th July: The trio left for the summit at 2.30 am and  reached the summit at around 9 am. They returned to Camp-1 at 6pm on that day itself. The trio faced some difficulties on their way to the summit from an altitude of 6170 m onwards as the route was full of scree and rock.

29th July: The trio reached Batal.

The re-attempt was completed successfully in 5 days.
