Kamal Kumar Guha passes away

Well known Writer, Editor of India's only mountaineering monthly, 'Himabanta', Kamal Kumar (1928 - 2015) Guha died at Kolkata last night (21-11-2015) at 1:00AM. He was the honorary member of The Himalayan Club. He was the founder member of Gangotri Glacier Exploration Club and Himalayan Association, took part several expedition including Neelgiri.

He has also authored several books which includes 'Bigalito Karuna Janhabi Jamuna' on which a film was made in 1971.

The every Thursday meet at his place of Confederation and later meeting him at his home to help publishing the Himavanta for last three years of it's existence brought us closer. We had some common Japanese friends too. His sharp memory till the end and straightforward approach to establish the truth is well-known. An encyclopedia of mountaineering, living legend, he was a man close to the ground. I will miss that storehouse of knowledge. RIP Kamal Kumar Guha.'
