Debasish Biswas to be conferred with the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards for 2015

Mountaineer Debasish Biswas to be conferred with the prestigious ‘Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards’ by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India for his spectacular performance in the field of adventure in Mountaineering.

Each year, beside sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports recognizes persons in the field of adventure for their outstanding achievements in ‘Land’, ‘Water’, ‘Air’ and ‘Lifetime Achievement’ categories.

Mr. Biswas (45) has been selected for this award for his outstanding performance in the field of adventure under the ‘Land’ category. He is to receive the same from the President of India on 29th August, 2016 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.

After receiving the award letter, Mr. Biswas expressed his gratitude by saying “I am really thankful and obliged to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for selecting me for this prestigious award. This is the highest recognition that I have ever received in my carrier. I am really excited to receive it from the President of India. This achievement would not have been possible without the constant support from my family, friends, co-climbers and my beloved well-wishers. I dedicate it to all of them.”

He has mainly been focusing on climbing mountains which are above 8000m in the Himalayas. He has successfully scaled Mt. Everest (2010), Mt. Kangchenjunga (2011), Mt. Annapurna (2012), Mt. Makalu (2014) and Mt. Manaslu (2015). He has also received gold medal from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation in 2015.
