Annapurna witnesses the first summit of year 2017

Six climbers Nives Meroi, Romano Bennet, Alberto Zerain, Jonatan García, Juan Pablo Mohr and Sabastian Rojo have successfully climbed Mt. Annapurna (8091 m) on 11th may 2017.

Among them, Italian couple Romano Bennet (55) and Nives Meroi (56) completed all the 14th eight thousanders peaks without supplementary oxygen and Sherpas help. They have became the first couple in the world to do so.

Meroi also became the 2nd women climber to complete all the 14 peaks above 8000 m without supplementary oxygen. According to the official data, Austrian climber Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner climbed all the 14 eight thousanders peaks​ without supplementary oxygen in 2011 becoming the first women climber to do so in the history of mountain climbing.
