A team from Bengal embarks on an expedition to Mt. Kedarnath

A team from Bengal is set to climb Mt. Kedarnath (6940 m), in the Western Garhwal Himalaya in Uttarakhand, India. The team comprises ten Climbers and one Medical Officer. The expedition is organised by West Bengal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Foundation. They will attempt Kedarnath by North West side.
Kedarnath, was first climbed by a Swiss team led by André Roch on 11th July 1947. Tenzing Norgay was one of the members of that team. They climbed the peak via the Northwest flank.

Dy. Leader Rajeev Kr. Mondal says "This peak is rare scaled though numbers of attempted, not only the height challenge but also technical challenges keep others climber far away to achieving the summit. There are no traditional routes to climb, no prominent upper camp site, and multiple cornice, overhang, crevasse burgshurnd make more difficult and challenging to the climbers."
