A five member team summits KR-2

A team of five members along with two HAPs summitted Mt. KR-2 (6187m*) on 18th August, 2017 at around 3pm. The team comprised ten climbers and two HAPs. Ramesh Roy was the leader of the team. The team wanted to climb Mt. KR-3 (6154m) but had to abandon the plan due to bad weather.

Timeline of the expedition:
9th August: Team left for Patseo from Manali.

10th August: Team reached Transit Camp.

11th August: Team reached Base Camp (4300m).

12th & 13th August: Performed acclimatization and load ferry to Camp-1 (4900m). The trail passed through boulder zone.

14th August: Eight members (Ramesh Roy, Sutapa Chowdhury, Rajendra Yadav, Debabrata Majumdar, Madhusudan Patidar, Pinku Dey, Pulak Ghosh and Kalyan Ghosh) along with two HAPs and cook proceeded to Camp-1 (5100m). Two members (Sankari Bhattacherjee and Sushanta Basu) stayed at Base Camp.

15th August: Load ferried to Camp-2(5300 m). The route was through hard ice.

16th August: Seven members (Ramesh Roy, Sutapa Chowdhury, Rajendra Yadav, Debabrata Majumdar, Madhusudan Patidar, Pinku Dey and Kalyan Ghosh) along with Two HAPs and cook reached Camp-2 (5300m). One member (Pulak Ghosh) went down to Base Camp.

17th August: Six members (Ramesh Roy, Sutapa Chowdhury, Rajendra Yadav, Debabrata Majumdar, Madhusudan Patidar and Pinku Dey) along with Two HAPs and cook reached Camp-3 (5500m). They fixed rope on the ridge which was full of ice and rock. One member (Kalyan Ghosh) went down to Base Camp.

18th august: They attempted to summit KR-3 (6154m), but they had to abandon their plan due to bad weather. Pinku Dey abandon the summit plan and went down from a place between Camp-3 and summit. At 10am on the same day weather conditions improved and they (rest of the five members and two HAPs) summitted KR-2 instead of KR-3 around 3pm.

19th & 20th August: They reattempted to summit of KR-3 twice but failed to do so because of bad weather.
